Bronze inscriptions (金文) were cast or carved on ritual vessels in the Shang and, especially, the Zhou. The texts record gifts, appointments and lineage. Graph shapes are often more elaborate than oracle bone forms.
This stage matters because it shows Chinese writing already serving commemoration and administration, not only divination. Character components that later become radicals are visible here.
Seal script is the next famous standardization. Modern conversion tools jump to the end of that timeline: 简体 and 繁體 in Unicode.
